Established 2014 · Bengaluru, Karnataka
Karnataka Optometry Association is a not-for-profit body of optometrists, students and educators. We advance the profession and eye care across the state through continuing education, public awareness and a strong professional community.
What we stand for
Optometry is a regulated healthcare profession, and optometrists are primary eye-care practitioners. KOA exists to raise standards, protect members' interests and improve access to good vision for everyone in Karnataka.
Conferences, CMEs, seminars and workshops keep members current as optometry and eye care continue to evolve.
Campaigns on UV protection, children's vision, Good Vision for Life and World Optometry Day promote eye health to the public.
We protect members' professional interests, act as a job centre, and help negotiate fair recognition and remuneration.
Who is an optometrist?
Optometry is an autonomous, educated and regulated healthcare profession. Optometrists provide comprehensive eye and vision care: refraction and dispensing, the detection, diagnosis and management of eye disease, and the rehabilitation of conditions of the visual system. (World Health Organization)
